Questions you may be asked in a Job interview

Just before you hear those words, "Your hired", you have to go through the interviewing process.  It took some hard work and time just to get to this point.  From countless hours spent looking for a job and then applying to as many as you can that you feel qualified for.  Next, you get that phone call that you have been waiting for to actually meet with your potential employer.  This can be, for many, a grueling, nerve wracking experience.  It is possible to ease or even eliminate the stress of your interview with a little forethought as to the questions that may be asked of you.  Why is this so important?  Because your interview is the stepping stone or lead in to you getting that job, so you want to do your best.  Try to be natural and poised.  If this will be your first interview, prepare yourself by considering these questions that I have included in this article to help you have a mental outline of what might be asked of you.  If this is not your first interview, this still may be helpful for you and no doubt improve your interviewing skills.

Why have you applied for this job?

Why do you want to work for this particular company?

What do you know about the job/company/industry?

Have you ever done this type of work before?

What kind of machines can you operate?

What experience have you had in this area of work?

What skills can you bring to this job?

Tell me about yourself.

What five words would you say best describe you?

Can you work under pressure?

Why did you leave your last job?

Why have you been unemployed for so long?

What was your last employer's opinion of you?

How often were you absent from work on your last job?

What are your plans for the future?

When are you available to start work?

What are your greatest assets?

If necessary, have a practice with someone else being the interviewer asking you these questions.  If you don't anyone to assist you, simply go over them in your head and give thought as to how you would answer the question.  Keep in mind that you may not necessarily get these particular questions or all of those I listed asked of you, but it gives you an outline or an idea of some questions that may come up during your interview.  The most important thing is to be yourself and be truthful when you give and answer.
